Ministry: Sakhalin-1 resumes gas pumping to main pipeline

MOSCOW, Feb 18 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Sakhalin-1 project has restarted pumping natural gas into the trunk pipeline, as seen by PRIME on Monday in the materials of the Energy Ministry.

“At 11.10 a.m. Moscow time, a compressor station at the Chaivo onshore processing facility was launched into operation, and supply of gas to the trunk pipeline Okha–Komsomolsk-on-Amur was restored,” the materials read.

The supplies were suspended twice over the Monday night over a compressor station malfunction. Previously, the project’s operator Exxon Neftegas Limited had to suspend for almost the whole day of February 1 due to the compressor stations’ malfunction.

Sakhalin-1 develops the Chaivo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi fields on the Sakhalin Island’s shelf with total estimated resources standing at 307 million tonnes of oil and 485 billion cubic meters of gas. U.S. ExxonMobil and Japan’s Sodeco own 30% in the project each, while Russian oil major Rosneft and India’ ONGC own 20% each.
